Daniel grew up in the local farming area and upon finishing high school, left town to pursue further studies. As a young man he travelled and worked overseas, spending a few years in hospitality, specialist retail and as a wilderness fly fishing guide.

Having returned from his adventures overseas, Daniel took up the challenge of dairy farming for 18 years, before selling the dairy farm to concentrate on his beef fattening block where he lives with his wife Elizabeth and three children.

Daniel is involved in several sporting and community groups and clubs, either as a participant or administrator.

In his spare time Daniel enjoys getting up the Waitaki Valley, boating, fishing, playing golf and spending time with family and friends.
